Btw, today there were about 10-12M accounts banned today for gold farming. Its safe to say they are gone for good now?

How could you be so mindless to say that you are a rwt'er/botter on the rsof?

This is the first message about sued players I have seen. Of course there
is no way to be sure if that information is correct.

Besides RS gold sellers there were also people who only botted their stats
to compete against others or access new content. There has been a lot of
talk at the RSOF about the amnesty Jagex is granting to all ex-botters.
Nobody knows how much botted exp there is in RS - you can only guess.

Of course you shouldn't come to the RSOF and brag about botting.

Then you can check the stats of account "Vicarious". This is all he has:
(all the rest are "Not Ranked")

You would think that right now is not a good time to bot. At
the moment the player community is oversensitive to bots. Smart
botters will wait and let the dust settle before they decide
what they do. However this is not possible to all of them. Some
of them are financial dependent on botting in RS. They have
made a lot of money selling RS gold and to some it may be their
only source of income now. So we are going to see desperate
botting attempts.

I read the thread on the webpage... It's very confusing how
two companies can say such different things. Also, in the thread
the word "legal" appears very often. Too often in my opinion
which kinda makes me a bit suspicious. As long RuneScapes
is bot-free and nice to play I don't care who does what or how
it is done. scared Smile

New post:

09-Nov-2011 - Bot-Busting Update: Legal Proceedings

Hi everyone,

As most of you know, Bot Nuke Day has been a resounding success,
with 98% of bots removed from the game, and we’ve struck a crippling
blow to gold farmers. The overwhelmingly positive feedback and
noticeable improvement to RuneScape has been truly tremendous.
In addition to the various technological measures Jagex recently
implemented, many of you will be aware that Jagex has for some
time been engaged in a number of legal procedures aimed at stopping
bot developers and the most serious bot users. These legal procedures
have been the subject of a significant amount of speculation, which we
will attempt to address in this post.

Well, I think I know how they're gonna make more money (actually, they've already started this plan). I got my credit card bill today and noticed an extra $5.00 payment apart from my membership with the name "Jagex" in it. It turns out that the membership loyalty program costs money! Mad

Idk if this is old news, maybe I'm slow to catch on to this kinda stuff.. Suspect

I don't think the loyalty program costs more, I pay with membership cards, get points, and the cards are the same price?

According to the YT vids, RSBuddy developer "Jacmob" developed the bot before runefest, took it there, and then now has a job with jagex.

That's from the youtube vids, waiting on Jag to confirm tho

I have faith that Jagex will win the fight eventually. Very Happy

Hmm,

it seems that the bots are already creeping in. I don't know what bot
company has succeeded in creating a working Sorcerer's Garden bot,
but there is no doubt that it exists. Herb prices and RS gold prices are
rising so Garden bots are now extremely profitable.

So far not only Rsbuddy has started to lose hope but also many others as well. Maybe botters won't be back this time. RuneScape reborn. Very Happy

You forget that Jagex is now owned by investor companies.
They are never too rich.

As I predicted RSBuddy has given up:

Recent Developments - Moving On From Bots

Why have you put an end to RSBuddy’s bot client?

Bots have changed the gameplay of RuneScape. With the use of
bots becoming increasingly widespread since the introduction of
free trade, and the recent announcements by Jagex, it is clear
that bots have become flagrantly detrimental to the game. If
you’re like any of us and you enjoy playing RuneScape, you’ll
have noticed that bots are anti-social and make the time you
spend playing feel diminished in worth. At the same time, bots
are abused heavily by gold farmers to ruin the game to a
significant extent only for their profit. We hope to assist in the
selfless movement by Jagex in fixing this problem and hope that
you will join us in playing the game with real people.

The eradication of bots in RS will bring botted items (such as grenwall spikes) back up in price, but because of the amount of gold bots have pumped into the economy, items like ags and d claws probably won't recover. This will mean that Jagex will make a whole new "generation" of weapons and armour that is superior to godswords, etc.

In response to the possible membership inflation, I wouldn't be surprised if they up memberships to $10.00/month, if not more. They might have to resort to drastic measures in order to avoid bankruptcy. From a company's standpoint, this is asking for bankruptcy. From my standpoint, I respect their decision and am glad they got rid of bots. Smile
Well the owners of Jagex are still very rich so I don't think that would be necessary to raise membership costs.

Being rich does not = making money

The owners want to make money, if they were happy with being rich they would have quit while they were ahead. obviously they will have to do something the make up for the loss in members. In fact, most decisions made by a company are made to increase revenue, so in some way they think that this will make more money for them in the long run. How they'll do it, I have on idea. They may be possibly assuming that the lack of bots will = a happier community = less people quitting and more people joining.
