I stopped with torstols as I was only averaging around 9 herbs per patch, so I'm using snapdragons till I have an aura or something O_o

So far 2 things are very apparent to me,

One is that remote farm, while beneficial I am sure, is by no way necessary to make profit farming torstols, as I dont have it.
Two is that the xp gained from fellstalk is better, almost 2 to one, the profit and xp from torstols, imo, far out weighs the difference

I do wish you would get xp from the second herb that juju and auras provide, but will content myself with the extra profit from them instead

5 seeds yield = 48 herbs = 139 herbs and a seed
5 seeds yield = 51 herbs and a seed = 190 herbs and 2 seeds
5 seeds yield = 44 herbs and one dead patch = 234 herbs and 2 seeds

grand total of 288 herbs at 30058 = 8656704 plus 506154 for 2 seeds = 9162858

total profit of 1797798

40 seeds at 249098 = 9963928

5 seeds yield = 50 herbs and 2 seeds

Yes Duck, you are correct, Only juju first run, combined aura and juju second run. Am stilll compiling data, but as yet scroll of life is hit and miss, i have returned 5 seeds on one 30 seed group, but on the next 40 i only got one, however it does seem to avg out to around 50 herbs per run with aura and juju, and scroll of life factored in. Once I have more samples of data, I will post, but it seems to follow the second group fairly consistantly

O_o so the 1st set of 6 runs is with juju only? (just confirming)

there avg yield was 40.6 herbs
with aura added avg yield 51.5 herbs

only very small set of data but seems like aura added lot more than 7% O_o not at all surprised if jagex failed with math again though

also, it seems without scroll of life and aura farming torstols is hardly any profit (maybe 10k/run), its those 250k seeds you get that make profit in long run (and herbs from aura if own one)

on the other hand, some herbs, like at current prices toadflax, make the profit more from herbs itself (low seed price, higher herb price) making it better way of profit for low lvl farmers or someone without scroll of life

also how much difference would 20 min disease-free time make?? if it really works only for that 20 mins (other possibility i can think of is it saves herbs planted during that 20 mins for disease in future, i doubt this is how it works)then:
herbs grow on 20 min farm tick basis if i remember right, so at most it saves 4 plants (1 un-diseaseable) from being deseased at 1 growth tick. according to farming HQ rsof thread*, chance of disease @ 1 growth tick is about 4.475% and they can get diseased at 3 points of their life. so assuming herbs arent supervisioned for disease, lets look at it this way:

chance(atleast one of 4 herbs catch disease during their full growth)= 42.26%
chance(atleast one of 4 herbs catch disease during their full growth w/ aura active on 1st tick)= 31.91%

ofc my math can be wrong!

edit: should note its not guaranteed 10% drop in disease rate, but it depends how well you time the aura activity with herbs' 1st growth tick

240k total profit over 3 runs so far, hopefully it gets better O_o
If it doesn't, then I might switch to snapdragon until I get an aura or something.

realised i forgot my conclusions ...O_o

obv by my limited data, aura and juju is by far better than juju alone. I yielded more herbs, but it also prevents disease, while its on. I have done 30 and 40 seeds per, and am still averaging 300k per run, . In total, I have realised close to 2m in profits over 6 runs, but almost 3m over 8 runs, not sure why the increase, pure luck likely.

I guess this thread motivated me to start herb runs again after a period of two years, so thanks Razz.
Using juju farm potions but no aura right now though.

Hopefully I can profit around 250k per run or something on average including deaths.

So i have been farming torstols lately, even with out remote farm O_o

I conducted an experiment for shits and giggles:

I bought 60 torstol seeds for 245502 gp each, and used that as my profit goal. It will vary daily as ge prices change but for the sake of my experiment, this is what I used
I have been saving my loyalty rewards points to purchase what I deemed useful auras, so I have the greater greenfinger aura, and am hoping to buy the master one the next time I get more points. It increases the chances of getting a second herb, similar to juju, but less, like only 7 percent chance

So most people use juju to farm torstols, but I dont see alot using the aura, and I wondered, maybe they cancel each other out, or maybe people just dont bother with it. I wondered why, hence the experiment:

cost of seeds 245,502 x30 equals 7,365,060

herbs sell for 29,722

5 seeds yield = 45 and one dead patch plus one seed 45 seeds and one seed
5 seeds yield = 34 and one dead patch plus one seed 79 herbs and 2 seeds
5 seeds yield = 39 118 herbs and 2 seeds
5 seeds yield = 45 163 herbs and 2 seeds
5 seeds yield = 30 and two dead patches 193 herbs and 2 seeds
5 seeds yield = 51 herbs and one seed 244 herbs and 3 seeds






need 248 herbs or equiv to break even

3 seeds at 245502 is 736506

244 torstols sold for 30134 for a total of 7352565

total profit was 724011

now with aura and juju

5 seeds yield = 51 herbs and one dead patch = 51 herbs
5 seeds yield = 50 herbs and one dead patch = 101 herbs
5 seeds yield = 66 herbs = 167 herbs
5 seeds yield = 58 herbs = 225 herbs
5 seeds yield = 43 herbs = 268 herbs *aura had run out for last 2 patches
5 seeds yield = 41 herbs = 309 herbs *juju ran out during harvesting, and i stopped and drank more ..

grand total of 9307800 or 30122 per herb

total profit was 1942740
